String of Pearls, Chapter One

Thanks you for listening to the initial offering from the Penny Dreadful Podcast. We begin with String of Pearls, Chapter One.

I plan to publish at least weekly. I have four chapters recorded, but not yet edited, so I should be able to keep the pace up.

The goal of this blog is to deliver readings from Victorian periodicals, primarily those extended, lurid narratives known as “Penny Dreadfuls”. I will be starting with “String of Pearls”, the original story of Sweeney Todd. I will then continue with “Varney the Vampire” and “The Mysteries of London”.

I hope to intersperse among these, some stand alone stories, primarily detective stories, and possibly some other articles that I find interesting or amusing.
